Parallax- Chapter 5

Sergio quickly readies his shotgun, and fires multiple shots at the spiders underside

The creature blew appart in Keenly's arms.

"What the hell was that thing!?" Ryan asked, crawling back to his feet.

"A spider thing."

"Seven years ago, this lab was shut down when Project SHADE escaped it's confines. Aparently Quaran's men have accidentally released it again," A woman said, walking up to the group.

"Major!" Keenly said.

"Um...Hi? Where are we? Can I kill something?"

"Oh. Shali, why is your last name missing from the database?" the woman asked.

"Because I ran away from home.As far as I'm concerned, I have no last name."

"Hmm... The database is lacking information on just about all of you... Perfect! Alright, we are to destroy this facility at all costs, then return to Sector C. Kate, why are you running in Autistic Mode?" the woman asked.

"Huh? Oh, sorry ma'am!"

A pair of the creatures, Shades, crawled around the corner...

Shali fired her rocket launcher at the Shades.

One flipped over and the other hopped back.

The woman sprinted up to the the toppled shade, jumping over while firing into the mouth.

"Well, rocket launchers do SOMETHING against these things."

"We don't have time to fight these things! Lets go!!" she yelled, kicking the second Shade out of her way.

"...Alright. But I wanna kill something soon."

"Stop acting so childish! This isn't a game!" she yelled, kicking through a locked door.

"Who the hell are you?" Ryan asked.

"Major Sayoko Aramaki of Sector C, any questions?"

"Not really..."

"Good!"

"Childish? Not homicidal? Damn, I'll need to fix that later. Alright."

Sayoko sighed, "Kids..."

She began pulling at a locked terminal. She strained to open it, slowly tearing the skin on her arms.

A group of Honor Guards walked in...

"Take 'em out... while I open... this thing!!"

"With pleasure."Shali said, and she fired her rocket launcher at the guards.

One flipped to the side, and the one behind was hit.

They opened fire on Shali...

Shali glared, and aimed at their heads, firing at each in turn.

They easily dodged her rocket barrage.

Chiyoko threw a kunai into one's head, and missed the second...

Shali threw a dagger at the other one. "Would they just DIE already?"

The guard easily dodged the dagger.

"Those Honor Guards before were probably fake, just to distract us..." Erika said, firing a volley at one, but missing, "These guys seem to be able to dodge everything... Shali! Shoot the floor around them!!"

Shali giggled, and shot a barrage of rockets in a circle round the guard.

The guard dodged the first blast, but lost a leg to the second...

Another guard drug his comrade out while Shali reloaded...

A different guard, an obvious cyborg, entered the room, firing large caliber bullets from both arms...

"Gods damn it!" Shali yelled, throwing the rest of her daggers, then switching to her blaster. She shot at each of them in turn, then switched back to her rocket launcher.
